Hiking - Walking: Samoens Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy :( Max Speed: Distance Covered:
With legs shot !!! :( Mag and I decided to give skiing a miss and the
because of the cloud the light wasn't brilliant so after a relaxing morning
in the appartment and the Coles heading off skiing to Morillonm, Mag and I
donned our walking boots, packed a picnic and headed up the road to Samoens
Cable Car. We then turned left and followed the river upstream toward Sixt
:) There is miles of cross country skiing piste here and we met a lovely
c/country skier Vincent who had lost his mate !! We would love to give this
sport a try :) The scenery is wonderful with the fast flowing river and
snow covered trees. We crossed over the river and past a hamlet where I fell
heavily on some ice :( We made it to the start of the Gorge des Tines which
was very pretty and then saw another sign to the gorge on a little used
path to the right. We headed up through the trees to the gorge and found a
narrow path in the rocks including some steep icy steps with iciles
everywhere :)
There was a sign to the cascades but the path looked steep and bad so we
headed down to the cross country piste again and headed into Sixt whwere we
skied the other day, we arrived where the ski bus picks up the people who
have skied over from Flane and a bus arrived and we jumped on and got a
lift back to Samoens as we were tired now.We had our bagets on the bus but
still had room for tea and cake :) So a top day in the mountains :)
